Refocus: the second Shenzhen Contemporary Art Biennale: City (yes) Art Museum
With the development of urbanization in China for many years, many villages have become cities. The urbanization rate in the Pearl River Delta region is ahead of the whole country, and Shenzhen is also one of the representative cities with such rapid development. Driven by urbanization, Shenzhen Art Gallery has also made unprecedented development, with a large number and an amazing volume, ranking in the forefront of the country. In this way, the urban supporting Art Gallery has become the current trend, and the development phenomenon of "Art Gallery era" continues to ferment. People's interest in art gallery architecture is far higher than the focus on the positioning and operation of art gallery.
However, the art gallery is far from a fixed architectural space. It has a long-term impact on the generation of urban culture from an art palace focusing on collection, research and display to a public cultural institution in the field of knowledge production. It has become a possible medium for community cultural exchange, a representative of open and Multicultural Consciousness, and a way of thinking to understand the region and the world. Urban culture is presented in art galleries, and art galleries exist in the city, which makes the city evolve into a wall free art gallery.
As an art museum, a city needs not only the attention and policy support of the government's cultural management, but also the participation and cooperation of many folk forces; it can not do without the support of enterprises in cultural construction, free artists, art space and even the spontaneously formed art area. This biennial exhibition will gather all parties to form an inclusive urban art practice group. Under the broader urban cultural framework, it will explore the close relationship between the art gallery itself - from the concrete organization to the abstract concept - and the current urban and cultural development in a multi-dimensional way.
