Born in 1966 in Yushu County, Jilin Province, Yang Xiaoyang graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Beijing Film Academy in 1988. He currently lives in Shenzhen and serves as Deputy Director of Shenzhen Public Cultural and Arts Creation Center (Shenzhen Fine Art Institute). He is a National First-Class Artist (Senior Professional Grade 3), member of the China Artists Association, council member of Chinese Ink Painting Institute, Vice President of Chinese Ink Painting Institute Guangdong, and Vice Chairman of the Shenzhen Artists Association.
